About AMHA

Want to learn more?

The American Morgan Horse Association Inc. exists to preserve, promote, perpetuate the Morgan horse. Founded in 1909, the Morgan Horse Club (as it was then called) was formed to support the Morgan breed. The club grew and evolved and in 1971 underwent a reorganization and was renamed the American Morgan Horse Association to reflect its increasing responsibilities. The  newly formed association offices were in Hamilton, New York, for a number of years with brief moves to both New Hartford and Westmoreland, New York. In 1988, the Association established its headquarters in Shelburne, Vermont.

Today there are approximately 90,000 living Morgans registered with AMHA. The Association carries out administration, promotion and education for the benefit of its members and the breed. AMHA serves approximately 7,000 active members, 50 recognized clubs, and 20 youth clubs.

AMHA is pleased to share this network with professionals, amateurs, youth, and horse lovers alike.  We hope that you find this network useful and that you share it widely with others in the Morgan community and the greater horse industry.
